God Sees You

In todays episode, I want to encourage you with this thought:

God sees you.

God tells the Prophet Samuel that he doesn’t look at outward appearances like men do. God goes deeper and sees into the heart.

For those of us who have deconstructed, we’ve heard a lot of bad things said about us: we’re living in sin. We’re backsliding. We’re going to Hell. We’re bad influences. Our consciences have been seared. And on and on the list goes.

But it’s helpful to remember that when they say these things, they’re not speaking for God. They’re projecting their own insecurities about not measuring up or being worthy of the salvation in Christ that they long for. It’s got nothing to do with you.

God sees you.

God sees you leaving a toxic world that has chosen to elevate fear and lies to keep hold of the power it cherishes. God sees your longing for truth and justice.

God sees your heart. God sees your goodness and your kindness, God sees your authenticity.

May this reminder encourage you that you are on the right path.

Meditation

Each episode will contain a moment of meditation. For some people this is helpful to center their minds and ground their bodies and to internalize messages. For others, meditation can be a challenge or even triggering. Wherever you find yourself, please remember to listen to your body.

Here we go:

Take a moment to settle your body.

Sit in a comfortable position.

Close your eyes. And take a moment to focus on your breath.

As you breathe in, repeat these words to yourself in your mind:

Breathe in: I am good.

Breathe out: God sees me.

Breathe in: I am good.

Breathe out: God sees me

Continue breathing this way for a few more moments.

When you are ready, open your eyes and come back to the room.

Musical Affirmation

To close out each episode, I want to play a song for you all that I feel encapsulates the message of the episode. If you are a spotify member, you should hear the full clip. If you aren’t yet a member, you’ll only hear a 30 second clip, but I would encourage you to go find this song wherever you get your music.

Today’s song is going to be: “You Say” by Lauren Daigle.

Full honesty here: I am not a CCM person. I never have been. But this song became a favourite the first time I heard it. Growing up, I wasn’t allowed messages like this in my life. I was insulated from them by being taught that these messages preached a false gospel. I was told that it advocated for the heresy of love of self.

Sure, I was told that God loved me. But the greater emphasis in my life, growing up, was on God’s hate and disgust for sin.

Learning to embrace that God sees me and holds me even when I feel completely unworthy of love has been a very healing message for me. I hope it is for you as well.

conclusion

Thank you so much for joining me on my first episode. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope to see you back here again next week.
