O give thanks to the Lord, call on his name,
make known his deeds among the peoples.
2 Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wonderful works.
3 Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
4 Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually.
5 Remember the wonderful works he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he has uttered,
6 O offspring of his servant Abraham,
children of Jacob, his chosen ones.
He is the Lord our God;
his judgments are in all the earth.
8 He is mindful of his covenant forever,
of the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,
9 the covenant that he made with Abraham,
his sworn promise to Isaac,
10 which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute,
to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan
as your portion for an inheritance.”
45b Praise the Lord!
-Psalm 105:1-11 & 45b (NRSV)
Lord God, our Father and our Mother. The one from whom all blessings flow, we praise you. We worship you. We declare Your name throughout the world, because you are exceedingly good to us. You are faithful to Your word, and in You there is no shadow or turning. You are always and forever the great I Am.
Where tears are shed, You are there to wipe them away. Where hearts are broken, You are there to hold the wounded in Your embrace. You are strength to the weak.
For our world, we pray for healing. We pray for the wisdom of leaders all around the world who are attempting to do the best for their citizens in a world where the economy is strained and hospitals are overrun.
For our churches, we pray for pastors and priests, for elders and deacons, for all who have chosen the vocation of the church in order to serve You and Your people. May you be their comfort in these trying times as they lend themselves as comfort to others.
For those for whom church is an unsafe place, we pray that they will still feel Your love and presence in their lives in a healing way. We pray that they will find loving and supportive community that can offer them the unconditional love and acceptance that they deserve.
For our doctors and nurses, paramedics and other healthcare professionals, who are putting their lives on the line to care for the sick and dying. For our lab techs running necessary tests and for scientists working around the clock to find cures and treatments and vaccines, we thank you for each and every one of them and we pray for their health and for their comfort during an unimaginable time.
For those who are sick or in need of your comfort, we pray for them. We pray that You would come to them like a Mother to Her children and let them know, without question, that You love them with an undying and unconditional kind of love. May Your healing touch be upon them.
For those who have departed from this world, we pray for their souls that they would be welcomed into Your grace as they hear you speak those long sought after words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” May they rest in Your peace.
For all of the things You have so graciously blessed us with, God of Heaven and Earth, We thank you. We thank You for the laughter of a child, the pink in the flower, the golden hues of sunset. We thank you for the company of our loved ones. We thank you for the gift of Your word. We thank you for all of the blessings we may not even be aware of at this moment.
Lord God, our Father and Our Mother, how we delight in Your name. We will never stop singing about the works You have done, the ways that You have met each and every one of us where we are. You show up in the middle of storms that threaten to over take us. You show up as the gentle whisper in the wind, reminding us of Your everlasting love that can never be taken from us.
In the name of Your Precious Son, Jesus Christ, we pray.
